HIEROGLYPHS
DRAWING by DANIEL MITSUI
This calligraphic work displays part of the Great Hymn to the Aten. The Great Hymn is attributed to the monotheistic pharaoh Akhenaten, who lived in the 14th century before Christ. It resembles the Psalm Benedic anima mea Domino. Roughly translated, the lines written here in hieroglyphics are:
How manifold the works that Thou hast made!
Such things are hidden from the face of man,
O only God like whom no other is!
I surrounded the hieroglyphics with decorative vines and flowers.
Medium: Drawing, black ink on paper
