The Museum of the Souls in Purgatory was founded about a century ago by a French priest who traveled through Europe to obtain the objects on display, which include clothing, books and linens with handprints or fingerprints burned onto them, or other evidence of contact with the suffering souls of the faithful departed. The museum occupies one room in the Church of the Sacred Heart in Rome. My wife took these photographs when she visited Rome in 2008.
