ST. ROBERT of NEWMINSTER
DRAWING by DANIEL MITSUI
This 3 1/2" × 5 1/4" print is based on a picture I drew in ink on paper. It depicts St. Robert of Newminster, a 12th-century Cistercian abbot. He was renowned for his fleshly mortification and his power over malevolent spirits. In this image, the four shields represent the Abbey of Newminster and three other monasteries founded by the saint; the dates of their foundations I wrote in Cistercian numerals.
I modified the colors and ornament when creating the print file (which is shown on this page); those on the original drawing are different. I also added text set in Millefleur Victor and Millefleur Canic, two typefaces that I designed myself.
An open-edition giclée print is available for $17. You may use the button below to pay via PayPal, debit card or credit card. Be sure to confirm the shipping address.
