BLESSED RAYMOND DuPUY
DRAWING by DANIEL MITSUI
Blessed Raymond duPuy was the second superior of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem (Knights Hospitaller), succeeding Blessed Gerard. He governed the order for 33 years. During that time, he established its Rule (based on St. Augustine’s) and its division into clerical, military and servant members.
I drew him advanced in years, wearing the habit of his order and holding a crucifix. I placed his coat of arms checked inside his halo, and the Latin form of his name, Raimundus Puteanus, in the lower border.
