Daniel Mitsui  ~  Religious Drawings  ~  Lex Humana

This print measures 9" × 15". Its text is set in Millefleur Victor, a typeface that I designed myself. Its letters have the basic shapes of capitals that appear in medieval manuscripts, paintings and tapestries. Their outlines are filled with tiny decorations: plants, fungi, beasts, birds, bugs and fish.

The text is from the Summa Theologica of St. Thomas Aquinas. In English, it is:
Human law has the nature of law in so far as it partakes of right reason; and it is clear that, in this respect, it is derived from the eternal law. But in so far as it deviates from reason, it is called an unjust law, and has the nature, not of law but of violence.

An open-edition giclée print is available for $127. You may use the button below to pay via PayPal, debit card or credit card. Be sure to confirm the shipping address.
