ST. FIACRE

This drawing is formatted as a recto page in an illuminated manuscript. The central image depicts St. Fiacre, a 7th century Irish-French hermit who is the patron saint of gardeners.
The saint holds a spade and an open Bible, and stands before his chapel, which is surrounded by blossoming plants. The lettering reads Sancte Fiacre, ora pro nobis, St. Fiacre, pray for us.
The ornamental border surrounding the central image and the text contains a cucumber vine, a bee and two butterflies.
