FEASTS of CHRISTMAS
DRAWING by DANIEL MITSUI
This drawing represents eight feasts celebrated during the liturgical season of Christmas. The Nativity of Jesus Christ is at its center, framed in an eight-pointed star. Above it, in a smaller star, is His Circumcision (celebrated on 1 January); the Adoration of the Magi, celebrated at Epiphany, is below. Surrounding these scenes are saints: Stephen the First Martyr, John the Apostle, the Holy Innocents, Thomas of Canterbury, and Pope Sylvester I.
Medium: Drawing, color ink on calfskin vellum
Dimensions: 5" × 7 1/2"
The original drawing was made on private commission.
